Born in Leicester, England in 1950, Cotterill began a six year engineering apprenticeship at the age of 15. His experience there provided the foundation for his artistic career. By the 1970’s and 80’s, he began sculpting gold and bronze bird sculptures, and to this day over 1000 have been sold worldwide. By 1990, Cotterill moved to California, where his new surroundings further influenced him to create entertaining and distinctive artistic work. He is currently devoted solely to creating bronze frog sculptures; as he constantly challenges himself sculpt new and intriguing versions of his amphibious friends.
